TrendForce: By 2026, the number of EV charging stations will triple

21/09/2023

According to TrendForce, the number of EV charging stations globally is expected to triple from 2023 to 2026, resulting in 16 million charging points. By 2026, there will be an estimated 96 billion Electric Vehicles worldwide, leading to a 6:1 vehicle-to-charger ratio, decreased from the 10:1 ratio of 2021.

The construction of 17 million charging stations is Europe's goal by 2030, while America aims to have 500,000 stations by 2026 alongside an anticipated 15 million EVs, producing a vehicle-to-charger ratio of 32:1. Europe and China will reportedly have ratios of about 9:1 and 4:1, respectively, around the same period. EV owners worldwide face a challenge of varying charging standards. The US, European, and Japanese standards (CCS1, CCS2, and CHAdeMO) and the Chinese GB/T and Tesla's NACS are just a few of the prominent ones. Compared to other regions, Europe and China use a single domestic standard, which provides simplicity for their citizens.
