GTA Semiconductor Raises $1.8B in Funding, Totaling $2.7B in Two Years

07/09/2023

GTA Semiconductor, an automotive IC manufacturer based in Shanghai, China, has successfully raised $1.8 billion in funding, bringing their total raised in the past two years to $2.7 billion. The majority of this funding has come from the Chinese government.

The company currently operates two manufacturing facilities in Shanghai, which are capable of producing 70k 150mm wpm and 110k 200mm wpm, respectively. Additionally, a new fab with the capability to run 43k 300mm wpm is currently under construction. GTA Semiconductor specializes in producing a variety of components for automotive, industrial, and high-end consumer applications, including MCU, analog and MEMS, PMICs, power discretes (such as IGBT, SGT, FRD, and TVS), as well as SiC power discretes.

They have developed proprietary 650V/750V/1200V SiC JBS and 650V/750V/1200V SiC MOSFET technologies. Notably, China is expected to launch a government-backed fund soon, with the goal of raising $40 billion to invest in the semiconductor industry.
